The Game Story:
CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Junior Matt Primm (Westminster, MD). scored three goals and added four assist to propel the Harvard men's lacrosse team to a 11-7 victory over Hartford on Jordan Field in Cambridge on Saturday afternoon. The Crimson improved to 2-0 on the young season with the win, while Hartford falls to 1-1 overall.

The Crimson took a 3-0 lead in the first period, and got outstanding play from sophomore goalie Jake McKenna (Darien, CT), who made several spectacular saves to keep the Hawks off the board. The teams traded goals inthe second period, allowing the hosts to take a 5-2 lead at the half, which included a pair of goals each by senior co-captain Jim Christian (Chester, NJ) and Primm.

Hartford attempted a rally in the third, getting goals from Tyler Francey (Brampton, ONT) and Tony Senia (Derry, NH). Harvard netted four of its own in the frame, however, to take a 9-4 lead into the final period. After a third Christian tally put Harvard up 10-4, Hartford trimmed the lead with goals by Brian LoMastro (Bridgewater, NJ) and Travis Eckler (Endicott, NY). After a Mike McBride (Ridgewood, NJ) tally extended the Crimson lead to 11-6, LoMastro tallied his second of the afternoon at the 5:19 mark to bring the Hawks within four. That would be as close as they would come, as Harvard shut out any scoring chances the rest of the way.

McKenna finished his afternoon with 14 saves, while Rorke Greene (Cape Elizabeth, ME) made 14 stops for Hartford as well. Harvard returns to action this Wednesday when it travels to take on Providence. Gametime is 3:30 p.m.
