| | | | Current Record : (5-9) | Current Record : (0-15) | | | | Go to team page > | Go to team page > | | | | | | The Game Story: | WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman Colin Flood (Bay Shore, N.Y.) scored three goals, while senior Toby Banta (Melrose, Mass.) and sophomore Edison Parzanese (Edgartown, Mass.) each had two goals and two assists for four points as the Holy Cross men's lacrosse team defeated Wagner, 13-5, on Tuesday afternoon at the Hart Turf Field in non-conference action in the season-finale. With the win, the Crusaders conclude the season with a 5-9 overall record, while the Seahawks fall to 0-15 overall.
Junior Luke Marchand (Concord, Mass.) scored two goals for Holy Cross, while sophomore Chris Smirti (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) and freshmen Bruce Dew (Manlius, N.Y.), Conor McKenna (Summit, N.J.) and Justin Rowley (Liverpool, N.Y.) each had one goal. Dew and Rowley scored their first collegiate goals.
Wagner was led by Will Macumber's two goals, while Mike Hess, Brian Poissant and Jeff Policicchio each recorded one goal. Ryan Martin had one assist.
Marchand scored the first goal of the game and was then followed by Flood and McKenna who each scored one goal. Banta scored the last two goals of the first period for a 5-0 Holy Cross lead. Banta's second goal was a man-up goal. Parzanese, Rowley, Dew and Marchand each scored in the second period as the Crusaders took a 9-0 lead into half time.
After Parzanese gave Holy Cross a 10-0 lead in the third period, Wagner answered with two goals to make it a 10-2 game. Flood then scored to give the Crusaders an 11-2 advantage going into the fourth period. The Seahawks then scored the first two goals of the period to make it an 11-4 score, while Smirti and Flood increased the Holy Cross lead to 13-4 when they each scored a goal. Wagner scored the last goal of the game for the 13-5 final score.
Junior goalie Jimmy Harrison (East Williston, N.Y.) made five saves in 20:59 for the Crusaders, while sophomore Connor Sweeney (South Salem, N.Y.) made one save in 24:01 and freshman Brandon DeLisio (Woodstock, N.Y.) made six saves in 15:00. Matthew McVie made 11 saves in 49:07 for the Seahawks. Holy Cross took 31 shots with 24 on goal and Wagner took 21 with 17 on goal, while the Crusaders had a total of 12 saves and the Seahawks had 11.
Before the game, seniors Banta, James Malone (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), Tim Redmond (Andover, Mass.) and Bobby Sullivan (Longmeadow, Mass.) were honored for their hard work and dedication to the team on and off the field. |
