The Game Story:
BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Johns Hopkins starting attack trio of junior Bobby Benson (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) and freshmen Peter LeSueur (Garden City, NY/Garden City) and Kyle Barrie (Narberth, PA/The Haverford School) accounted for 10 goals and four assists and top-ranked Johns Hopkins used an 8-0 run midway through the game as the Blue Jays knocked off 15th-ranked Towson, 14-11. The win is the seventh straight for Hopkins, which improves to 10-1 win the win. Towson had a three-game winning streak snapped and falls to 6-5.

After Towson's Brad Reppert (Lutherville, MD/Loyola) tied the game at 5-5 with 5:52 remaining in the second quarter, Hopkins put the game away with the 8-0 run over the next 12 minutes. LeSueur gave JHU the lead for good with his second goal of the game with 3:19 remaining in the second quarter, but it was the final minute of the period that proved to be the clincher. Benson scored with 34 seconds remaining off an assist from sophomore Conor Ford (Timonium, MD/St. Paul's) to make it 7-5 before Barrie added an unassisted goal with just nine seconds left before halftime to push the lead to 8-5. Hopkins won the ensuing faceoff and Ford converted the fastbreak into a goal off a feed from Benson with just two seconds showing on the clock.

Barrie opened the second half scoring with another goal just over two minutes into the third quarter and senior Matt Hanna (Geneva, NY/Geneva) added his second goal of the season 45 seconds later to push the lead to 11-5. Benson scored his third goal of the game less than two minutes later and LeSueur made it 13-5 with an extra man goal just over two minutes after that. The eight-goal lead is the largest the Blue Jays have enjoyed at any point this season.

Towson came out quickly, scoring on its first three shots to take a 3-0 lead less than three minutes into the game. Peyton Chane (Lake Bluff, IL/Loyola), Collin Meerholz (Huntingtown, MD/Northern) and Kyle Campbell (Ellicott, MD/Mt. Hebron) all scored during the opening spree for the Tigers. Freshman Kyle Harrison (Baltimore, MD/Friends) got Hopkins on the board with an unassisted goal at the 9:25 mark and Benson and Ford scored back-to-back goals to make it 3-3. Campbell and Reppert sandwiched goals around tallies by LeSueur and Barrie to account for the 5-5 tie. After Reppert's goal at the 5:52 mark Towson would not score again until there was just 5:02 remaining in the third quarter when Matt Florio (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) finally ended Hopkins' 8-0 run.

Beginning with Florio's unassisted goal, Towson would score six of the final seven goals of the game. Hunter Lochte (Baltimore, MD/Boys' Latin), Josh Tankersley (Novi, MI/Novi), Ryan Obloj (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale), Campbell and Chane all scored during the closing spree with Benson's fourth goal of the game at the 2:25 mark of the third quarter Hopkins' only goal in the final 23 minutes.

Benson scored four goals and added an assist to lead the way for the Blue Jays, who also got career-highs of three goals and three assists from LeSueur. Barrie added three goals and one assist, while Ford chipped in with two goals and one assist. Senior Nick Murtha (Manhasset, NY/Manhasset) registered 10 saves in goal for the Blue Jays, who were outshot, 41-37, but won the ground ball war, 41-30 and controlled 14-of-26 faceoffs. Harrison, who scored one goal and added one assist, won 12-of-16 faceoffs on the day and had a career-high 11 ground balls.

Towson was led by Campbell's three goals, while Chane added two. Obloj scored one goal and added one assist, while Brad Monaco (West Seneca, NY/Orchard Park) had a team-high three assists. Towson goalies John Hunt (St. Louis, MO/Christian Brothers) and Reed Sothoron (Lexington Park, MD/St. Mary's) combined for six saves in goal for the Tigers, who were 2-for-4 with the extra man.

Johns Hopkins, which is now 33-1 in its last 34 games in the month of April and 29-3 in its last 32 home games, will close out the regular-season at Loyola next Saturday. Towson will close out the season next Saturday at Sacred Heart.
