to complete Loyola?s come-from-behind 11-10 win over Quinnipiac on Saturday
afternoon. The Greyhounds rallied with four fourth-quarter goals to win a
nail-biter at Geppi-Aikens Field.
A fired up Greyhound squad came out and played a flawless opening 10 minutes.
The Greyhounds scored two minutes into the contest with freshman Andrew Spack?s
fifth goal of the season. Matt Monfett added back-to-back goals and two-thirds
into the period, Loyola led 3-0 without allowing the Bobcats a shot-on-goal.
?I think we started the game with a lot of intensity and emotion,? says Loyola
Head Coach Bill Dirrigl. ?Quinnipiac was unfortunate to suffer some severe
injuries and it was hard to get fired up after that.?
A seemingly normal and legal body check turned into a 30-minute delay with a
Quinnipiac player carted off on a stretcher. Minutes later, another Bobcats was
removed on a stretcher and a very emotional Quinnipiac squad proceeded to go on
a five-goal run.
Senior Stephen Brundage was able to get back a little momentum heading into the
lockeroom with a man-down goal at 1:15 of the second quarter, and at the half,
Quinnipiac led 6-4.
?They played with a lot of emotion,? says Cassalia. ?We knew we had a tough
game on our hands.?
The Greyhounds, after going 0-for-4 in extra man opportunities in the first
half, converted on their first chance of the second half with Spack?s man-up
goal at 10:54 of the third quarter. Brundage and Cassalia followed with
unassisted goals of their own and the Greyhounds led 7-6.
Quinnipiac took an 8-7 lead, Loyola stormed back to lead 9-8, but back-to-back
Bobcat goals gave Quinnipiac yet another lead at 10-9.
Freshman Jordan Rabidou, who entered the day with two goals, scored the
equalizer with 4:48 remaining in regulation. Seconds later, Cassalia checked
Quinnipiac?s Josh Murray, picked up the groundball and raced downfield. He beat
goalkeeper James Nastro with a low shot and the Greyhounds held on for the win.
Cassalia, Brundage, Monfett and Spack all finished the game with two goals;
Monfett also had two assists. Greg Leonard, Pat Shek and Jordan Rabidou chipped
in with goals as well. Junior T.C. Behm, who had nine saves, got the win in
goal.
?This was a total team effort,? says Behm. ?I obviously didn?t play my best
game, but everybody around me made huge plays when they needed to. I don?t
deserve any credit for this win, my teammates do.?
The Greyhounds are now 3-3 overall now head to Syracuse. Loyola will face the
Orangemen next Saturday, April 10 at 1 p.m. That game can be heard live on WNST

There is not word on the injured Bobcat players, but all precautions have been
made.
