The Game Story:
BALTIMORE (March 29)--Drew Pfarr scored two goals and added three assists and Towson took control with a seven-goal first quarter as the 18th-ranked Tigers defeated No. 10 Loyola, 15-10, in a men's lacrosse game played at soggy Curley Field Saturday afternoon.

Pfarr, one of six Towson players to score twice in the game, concluded a five-goal Tiger first-quarter run with his first goal that gave the Tigers (3-3) a 5-1 lead. Towson would lead 7-2 after the first quarter thanks to goals from Chris Zumpano and Todd Spear in the final 1:15.

The Tigers then led by as many as six goals in the third quarter, 12-6, after a Ryan Obloj goal with three minutes left. Loyola (5-1) then got back into the game with four straight goals, three from Gunnar Goettelmann, to cut the deficit to 12-10, but Towson's Brad Monaco scored an extra-man goal with 4:57 left in the game to quell Loyola's rally.

Alex Fountain, Obloj, Matt Florio, Spear and Steve Mull also scored twice for Towson, which won at Curley Field for the second straight time and defeated a Top 10 opponent in the regular season for the first time since winning at Loyola in 2001. The Tigers outshot Loyola, 41-29, including 23-15 in the second half.

Stephen Brundage and Goettelmann each scored three goals for Loyola, while Brundage and Joey Case had two assists. Loyola won 41 groundballs to 32 for Towson and won 18 of the game's 26 faceoffs but finished 0-for-7 on extra-man situations.

Brundage gave Loyola its only lead of the game, 1-0, 52 seconds into the game, but Towson followed with a five-goal run in the next 10 minutes. Spear and Florio scored goals for Towson midway through the second quarter before Case scored for Loyola with 3:45 left in the half to pull the Greyhounds within 9-4 at halftime.

Reed Sothoron had nine saves for the Tigers, who finished 32-for-35 on clearing attempts. Towson was perfect on its first 26 clearing attempts through the first three quarters.

Loyola lost its leading scorer, Chris Summers, just 14 seconds into the game when he suffered a contusion of his right thigh. Summers, who entered the game with 13 goals, was unable to return to the field after that.
