Sophomore Will Cutler (Vienna, Va./St. Johns College) notched two goals and two assists in the game to lead the Lions with four points. Penn State had total control of the game as they entered the fourth quarter with an 11-3 lead. The Lions scored two consecutive goals from senior Luke Ogelsby (Bryn Mawr, Pa./The Haverford School) who finished with two goals on the day and sophomore Mike Jacober (Providence, R.I./Moses Brown School). Ohio State scored on a goal at the 8:36 mark from Curtis Smith who led the Buckeyes in scoring with two points. Penn State came out of the half and scored four goals in the third quarter. Freshman John Eremus (Rosemont, Pa./The Haverford School) notched two goals to finish with a hat trick on the day and freshman Nate Whitaker (Alexandria, Va./Thomas Jefferson) scored a goal at the 7:05 mark to extend his scoring streak to 13 games. Freshman Elliott Jones (Potomac, Md./Bullis School) notched a late goal with 30 seconds remaining in the quarter on an assist from junior Rob Bateman (Sparks, Md./Hereford) who finished with two assists in the game. Sophomore Will Jones (Annapolis, Md./DeMatha) led the Lions in the second quarter scoring two unassisted goals in a span of four minutes. Cutler tallied the third goal in the quarter for Penn State off a long rebound from his own shot. Chris Brown scored the lone goal for Ohio State in the quarter after receiving a behind the back pass from Curtis Smith. The Nittany Lions took a 7-2 lead into halftime. Penn State opened the match scoring two consecutive goals from Cutler and Ogelsby. Ohio State tallied its first goal of the game when Anthony Gilardi scored on an assist from Pat Myers. Eremus scored a late goal for Penn State at the 4:32 mark on an assist from senior captain Marshall Feldman (Davidsonville, Md./Severn) Senior goal keeper Chris Garrity (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) played an outstanding match in his final regular season game at Penn State making 14 saves and securing the fifth spot on the Penn State Career Saves list with 428 career saves. Penn State head coach Glenn Thiel was ecstatic about the victory. "Garrity was great, the defense played well and we controlled the open field," said Thiel. "We've played our last seven games as well as anyone else in the country." The Lions have now beat four teams ranked in the USILA Top 20 and will look to earn its first NCAA Tournament bid in school history on Sunday.
