The Game Story:
PRINCETON, N.J. - Julian Gould made 11 saves while allowing two goals and Sean Hartofilis scored four goals to move into third-place all-time at Princeton as the sixth-ranked Tigers defeated Brown 11-3 in front of 2,103 at Class of '52 Stadium.

The victory gave Princeton a share of the Ivy League's first three-way championship since 1969, along with Dartmouth and Cornell. The automatic bid to the NCAA tournament will be determined Saturday evening by random draw, and the 16-team field for the NCAA tournament will be announced Sunday evening.

Princeton, winner of the Ivy men's lacrosse championship nine straight times and 11 times in the last 12 years, was playing for the first time since a 13-6 loss to Dartmouth a week earlier. Gould made only three saves in that game, while Hartofilis was suspended for a violation of team rules.

This time, the two seniors had big games in their regular-season finales. Gould made five saves in the first quarter as the Tigers steadily built a lead, while Hartofilis moved past both B.J. Prager (118 goals) and Justin Tortolani (120 goals) to become third all-time at Princeton with 121. Hartofilis trails only Jesse Hubbard (163) and Chris Massey (146).

"I wanted to make sure I made the first save," said Gould. "You never want to have a bad game, and I wanted to get back and play as quickly as possibly. This was a good game for us."

Ryan Boyle assisted on the first two goals of the game and finished with five for the day. He ran his Ivy League single-season record for assists in a league season to 32, six better than the old record. Boyle also ran his season total to 44, the fourth-highest single-season total in school history, four away from tying Jon Hess' record of 48 in 1997.

The Tigers (10-3, 5-1) led 3-1 after the first quarter and 6-1 at intermission. Princeton coach Bill Tierney play every player dressed for the game in the second half.

"The thing about Julian is that in his two years as a starter, he's never had back-to-back bad games," said Tierney. "I was worried about him, sure, but he did a great job. Now we have to look ahead to see where the committee puts us. The Ivy League is always the first goal, but there are other goals as well."

Hartofilis' three goals gave him 36 for the season, one better than Jason Doneger, who scored three goals against Brown, for the team lead. Brad Dumont had two goals and an assist, while Josh White had a goal and two assists.

Brown had single goals from Jon Thompson, Richard Tuohey and James Hahn. Mike Levin made 14 saves for the Bears (4-10, 1-5 Ivy), who were outshot 55-22.
