Wednesday, April 20, in Providence, Rhode Island. With the win, Manhattan clinches the regular-season MAAC title. Prior to the game, Manhattan was ranked
No. 1 in the MAAC, while Providence held second place. Providence College senior midfielder Kyle Ojakian (Cheshire, Conn.) recorded two goals and two assists
in the loss, and registered the 100th point of his career.
Ojakian gave the Friars an early 2-0 lead as he scored two-straight goals to open the first quarter of play. Ojakian's first goal came at the 13:56 mark off an
assist from junior Skip Dunphy (Manhasset, N.Y.). He registered his second goal of the day, unassisted, just 52-seconds later (13:04). Manhattan registered it's
first goal at the 8:07 mark of the first quarter as Justn Otto netted one of his seven goals on the day. Providence regained it's two-goal advantage (3-1) on an
unassisted goal from freshman Dan Giuntini (Flora Park, N.Y.), with 16 seconds remaining in the quarter. Manhattan's Brady Becklo closed the first quarter
scoring on an unassisted goal with one-second remaining on the clock, making the score 3-3.
In the second quarter Giuntini put PC up 4-3 with 14:22 on the clock, off an assist from freshman Frank Bosco (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.). Manhattan would rally
to score five-straight goals in the quarter, while holding the Friars scoreless. In the five-goal attack Otto netted two goals, while Becklo, Nick Silva and Eugene
Tanner scored one goal each. Michael Kelly, and Tanner were credited with one assist each in the drive, and Manhattan took an 8-4 lead into halftime.
In third quarter action, Otto gave Manhattan an 9-4 lead on an unassisted goal at the 14:23 mark. Providence cut the lead to two goals (9-7) with
three-straight goals. Bosco struck first with 10:24 remaining on the clock off an assist from sophomore Kevin Kornobis (Merrick, N.Y.). Junior Jon Meehan
(Peabody, Mass.) tallied a goal at the 7:51 mark from senior Chris Houston (Garden City, N.Y.) and Kornobis connected from Ojakian with 1:24 remaining in the
quarter. Ojakian's assist earned him his 100th career point, in just his second season with the Friars. The Jaspers took a 10-7 lead with 55-seconds remaining in
the quarter as Otto converted his fifth goal of the game on an assist from Tanner.
In the fourth quarter the Jaspers scored two-straight goals to take a 12-7 advantage, on goals from Nick Silva and Otto. PC's Kornobis tallied a goal at the 9:03
mark on an assist from Giuntini to make the score 12-8, but Manhattan came right back on a goal from Don Femminella with 7:06 remaining in the game. The
Friars final two goals were scored at the 5:30 and 4:12 marks of the fourth quarter by Meehan, to make the score 13-10, but it would be as close as the Friars
would get. Manhattan closed the game out with two more goals (Otto and Tanner), and the 15-10 victory.
Providence falls to 8-5 overall and 4-2 in the MAAC. The Friars will host Brown on Wednesday, April 24 in Providence, Rhode Island.
