The Game Story:
FAIRFIELD, CT (April 17, 2004) - Sophomore Brendan O'Donnell scored four goals and passed out three assists to lead the Villanova University men's lacrosse team to a 12-7 Colonial Athletic Conference win over Sacred Heart University Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats outshot the Pioneers 32-9 in the first half, scoring eight times en route to their ninth victory overall and third in the CAA. Sacred Heart falls to 1-10 overall and 1-3 in league play with the loss.

It was the Pioneers who got on the scoreboard first when sophomore Matt Robideau (Massena, NY) netted his 18th goal of the season, unassisted, at the 12:37 mark. The Wildcats answered in a big way, rattling off five-straight over the remainder of the first quarter, including two man-up goals by O'Donnell and Dave Cacciabeve.

Villanova carried their strong play over to the second quarter as Eric Heidenberger made it 6-1 off a feed from O'Donnell. SHU finally snapped their scoring drought as senior Jorge Bravo (Long Beach, NY) scored man-up off a pass from Robideau. That would be all for the Pioneer offense in the first half as Villanova tacked on two more goals to take a commanding 8-2 lead into the break. SHU's Bravo turned in a season-best performance with two goals and two assists. Fellow senior Ben Giamichael (Cortland, NY) also scored twice while both Robideau and sophomore Adam Dzedzy (Glenmoore, PA) scored a goal with an assist apiece. Sophomore goalkeeper Thomas Hind (Farmingdale, NY) was stellar in goal, making 18 saves while facing 52 shots.

In addition to O'Donnell's seven points, Matt Lucas added two goals and an assist while Matt Starker notched a goal with two assists. Joseph Canuso was strong in goal for the Wildcats making 10 saves in earning the win.

The Pioneers take on the University of Delaware next Saturday, April 24th at 1:00 pm in their final CAA contest of the season.
