The Game Story:
STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Sophomore Charley Dickenson (Dallas, Texas) scored with four seconds remaining in the game to lift the University of Denver men’s lacrosse team past No. 20 Stony Brook, 14-13, on Saturday afternoon at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.



Trailing 8-6 with 3:32 remaining in the third quarter, senior Brett Koll (Fort Collins, Colo.) pulled DU within one with his first goal of the contest.



Stony Brook (3-3) took a two-goal lead before senior Jon Paulson (Flemington, N.J.) tallied an unassisted goal with 14:53 remaining in the contest to pull the Pioneers within one at 9-8.



Denver (4-4) found themselves down 10-8 but sophomores John Dickenson (Dallas, Texas) and Ilija Gajic (Burnaby, B.C.) recorded unassisted goals within a 28 second span to tie the game at 10.



With 5:51 remaining in the game, and trailing 12-10, Gajic recorded his third goal of the game to get Denver within one. Koll, on an assist from junior Joey Murray (Denver, Colo.), tied the game at 12 with 5:33 left in the fourth, but 13 seconds later SBU’s Sean LeFloch gave the Seawolves back the lead.



Gajic fed Murray with 1:53 left in the game to tie the game at 13-13. Charley Dickenson’s game-winner with four seconds remaining on the clock gave the Pioneers’ their first lead since 4:31 in the second quarter, a span of just over 34 minutes.



Gajic recorded his third career hat trick, leading DU with three goals and one assist. Koll and sophomore Dillon Roy (Denver, Colo.) recorded two goals in the contest as well. Sophomore Ben Wahler (Denver, Colo.) recorded his first goal of the season in the first period. Freshman Jamie Lincoln (St. Cathariens, Ontario), junior Brad Richardson (Langley, B.C.) and senior Jon Paulson (Flemington, N.J.) also added goals in the win.



Junior goalie Austin Konkel (Aurora, Colo.) matched his career-best 16 saves, earning his fourth win of the season.



SBU had a trio of players with four points apiece.



The Pioneers return home for two games beginning on Monday, March 24 to face Presbyterian at 7:30 p.m. DU will host Harvard on Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m.
