The Game Story:
TOWSON, Md. - - Junior attackman Kyle Campbell (Mt. Hebron H.S./Ellicott City, Md.) scored six goals and added one assist as 10th-ranked Towson (3-2, 1-0) opened its Colonial Athletic Association league play with an 18-4 victory over Delaware (2-4, 0-2) Saturday afternoon in Towson University Stadium.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Tigers, who had fallen to Maryland and Virginia in successive games. The margin of victory was the largest ever in the 39-game series between the Tigers and Blue Hens and improved Towson^Òs record over Delaware to 27-12.

Campbell put the Tigers on top 2-0 by scoring the game^Òs first two goals midway in the opening period. Towson went on to an 8-1 lead by the middle of the second quarter with five different players scoring. Senior midfielder Chris Bickley (Abington H.S./Jekintown, Pa.) netted the Blue Hens^Ò first goal in the middle of the Tigers^Ò run when he beat his man and came around from behind to tally just 1:18 seconds into the second quarter. Bickley scored again seven minutes later to close the gap to 8-2. Junior long stick middie Danny Cocchi (Hicksville H.S./Hicksville, N.Y.) then stole the ball at midfield and dished it off to Ryan Obloj (Farmingdale H.S./Farmingdale, N.Y.) for a Towson goal to negate Bickely^Òs score.

Ryan Metzbower, Delaware^Òs leading scorer, closed out the scoring for the half when he hit an extra man goal with 1:21 remaining. But the entire second half belonged to the Tigers who outscored the Blue Hens 9-1 in the final 30 minutes.

After being outgunned in its last two games, Towson stepped up the fire power against the Blue Hens, outshooting Delaware 62-18 for the game. The Tigers also dominated the faceoff circle, winning 20 of 26 draws with junior Zak Smith (Skaneateles H.S./Skaneateles, N.Y.) going 14-3 to show the way.

In additon to Campbell the Tigers got multiple scoring from sophomore midfielder Brian Myers (Orchard Park H.S./Orchard Park, N.Y.) and senior attackman Brad Reppert (Loyola H.S./Lutherville, Md.) with three each and Obloj chipped in two. Reppert also had a game high three assists. Senior David Mullen (Ridley H.S./Ridley Park, Pa.) gave the Blue Hens a gutty effort in the goal, making a season high 20 saves.

Towson is back in action again next Saturday afternoon when the Tigers host 3rd-ranked Loyola in the 44th meeting between the two neighboring schools. The game will carried locally on WMAR-TV Channel 2 beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Blue Hens entertain 19th-ranked Ohio State next Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
