The Game Story:
TOWSON, Md. - Towson scored first but Loyola responded with five straight goals to take the lead and never looked back on the way to a 14-9 victory over the Tigers in the 46th meeting between the two teams.

It was the season opener for both squads and the 20th straight season opening win for the Greyhounds. Towson leads the series 24-22.

Towson^Òs Matt Florio scored the game^Òs first goal unassisted just 2:05 into the contest. The Greyhounds shook that off and came back with five different players scoring goals to take a 5-1 lead with 3:20 to play in the first quarter.

Freshman Jonathan Engelke scored a pair of goals for Towson just 12 seconds apart to pull the Tigers within 6-4 but Chris Einhorn^Òs unassisted marker with 11 seconds left gave the Greyhounds a 6-3 lead going into the second quarter.

After Towson^Òs Ben DeFelice opened the second quarter with a goal the Greyhounds rattled off three more for a 9-4 lead with 3:31 left in the half. The Tigers then went on a 5-1 run that spilled over into the early stages of the third quarter. Brian Myers and Bobby Griebe scored goals just six seconds apart at the start of the second half as the Tigers trailed 10-9. But that was to be the end of Towson^Òs scoring.

The Greyhounds stiffened and kept the Tigers off the scoreboard for the last 29 minutes of the game. Meanwhile Loyola scored four goals in the fourth quarter and with 7:30 left in the game the Greyhounds had the final margin, 14-9.

Loyola made a goalie change one minute into the second half, inserting Michael Fretwell into the nets in relief of T.C. Behm. Behm allowed all nine Towson goals. Fretwell shutout the Tigers the rest of the way, making nine saves in the process.

Junior attackmen Matt Monfett and Einhorn paced the Greyhounds with three goals each. Senior attackman Stephen Brundage pitched in two goals and three assists. Engelke led Towson with three goals.
