The Game Story:
VILLANOVA, PA. - Matt Starker tallied three goals, while Richie Kratz added two goals and two assists to power Villanova past Lehigh, 8-6, on Sunday afternoon at Villanova Stadium. Brendan O'Donnell chipped in with a goal and two assists.

For the second straight game, David Cacciabeve started the Wildcat offense, scoring on his first shot of the game off an assist from Eric Heidenberger at 13:54 of the first quarter. Lehigh would tie the score a minute later when David Walsh found Andrew Lucas in front of the net.

Villanova then rattled off four consecutive goals to open a 5-1 lead at the start of the second quarter. Dan Fanelli, O'Donnell and Kratz each tickled the twine for the first time this season during the spurt. Starker also scored during the run, his third of the year.

Lehigh (0-2) closed to within 6-4 at the start of the fourth quarter behind two goals from Greg Morin and another from Walsh. Morin and Walsh scored extra-man goals within five minutes of each other to help the Mountain Hawks stay close.

After a Lehigh turnover, the Wildcats raced down the field and Kratz sent a Chris Kramer feed to the back of the net, making the score 7-4 with 11:06 left in the game.

Lehigh's David Gaunt again brought his team to within two with his first tally of the season at 7:18, but that was as close as the Mountain Hawks would get.

The game featured 21 penalties and six man-up goals, with Villanova converting on 2-of-5 and Lehigh connecting on 4-of-7.

Villanova (2-0) hits the road for the first time on Saturday when the team visits Pennsylvania for a 3:00 p.m. game.
