The Game Story:
VILLANOVA, Pa. - Todd Spear scored three goals to spark the Towson Tigers (5-3 overall, 4-0 Colonial Athletic Association) to a 13-10 victory over the Villanova Wildcats (7-3 overall, 2-1 CAA) in a CAA game played here Saturday night.

Villanova opened the scoring at the 10:09 mark of the first half when freshman Matt Starker (Summit, N.J.) scored. The Wildcats added a second goal at 6:48 of the first when sophomore Marc Creegan (West Babylon, N.Y.) took a pass from Brian Marks (Glenmoore, Pa.) and found the back of the net.

But then Towson reeled off six consecutive goals to build a 6-2 advantage. The first goal came off the stick of Kevin Rutledge and the second came courtesy of Matt Florio at the 4:12 mark of the first period. Todd Spear, Drew Pfarr, Ryan Obloj, and Monaco scored in a span of nine minutes for the Tigers to make it 6-2 late in the second quarter. A Villanova goal from freshman Brendan O'Donnell with one second left on the clock made it a 6-3 Towson lead at halftime.

The Tigers picked up goals from Spear and Neil Adams to build an 8-4 edge early in the third period. However, Matt Lucas (Gainesville, Va.), Matt Starker (Summit, N.J.) and Marks sparked a rally that brought Villanova to within one at 8-7 at the 12:39 mark of the fourth period. An Obloj goal at 10:48 extended the Tigers lead to 9-7 before Creegan responded with a goal just 14 seconds later. The Tigers regained the two goal edge just 13 seconds later when Spear scored again to make it 10-8.

Towson then got goals from Hunter Lochte and Adams just seven seconds apart to extend their edge to 12-8 with 9:04 left. Villanova closed to within two at 12-10 on goals from Lucas and Starker but could get no closer. Lochte completed the scoring with a goal with six seconds left to make the final 13-10.

Starker led Villanova on offense with three goals and an assist. Lucas also contributed three goals while Creegan scored a pair.

Villanova returns to action on Tuesday, April 15 when it travels to face Lafayette in a non-conference matchup that begins at 4:00 p.m.
