The Game Story:
Staten Island, NY - Senior midfielder Mike Hess (Potomac, MD/ The Heights School), junior attack Jeff Policicchio (Novi. MI/ Novi) and freshman attack Will Macumber (Manorville, NY/ Eastport South Manor) each scored two goals but Wagner was unable to overcome a big early deficit in dropping a 17-7 decision to Sacred Heart.

With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 0-4 on the season while the Pioneers, due to inclement weather, were playing their 2008 season opener.

Sacred Heart jumped out to a 5-1 lead after one quarter and extended the advantage to 12-2 at halftime. Trailing 16-2 after three quarters, Wagner out-scored Sacred Heart 5-1 in the final quarter as Policicchio and Macumber tallied each of their goals in the late-going.

Junior midfielder Brian Poissant (Manlius, NY/ Fayetteville-Manlius) also notched a goal for Wagner on this bitter cold, wind-swept afternoon at Wagner College Stadium.

Junior Brandon Wasczak (Fredeick, MD/ Linganore) had 12 saves in goal for the Seahawks. Timmy Katz and Tony Tanzi scored three goals apiece to pace Sacred Heart. The Pioneers out-shot Wagner 40-34 while the Seahawks held a 24-20 edge in ground balls.

Wagner is next in action on Sat., March 8 when the Seahawks travel to Lehigh. Face-off is set for 1:00 pm.
