The Game Story:
BINGHAMTON, N.Y.-- Freshman attack Drew Wichmann (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored a career-high three goals and added two assists, leading Binghamton (1-3) to an 11-4 win over Marist (0-3) in a non-conference men's lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium. The 11 goals represents the Bearcats' highest offensive output since their 11-6 win over Drexel last April 25.

"The difference today from the previous games (this season) was that we were able to finish our scoring chances," head coach Ed Stephenson said. "Marist is a really solid team despite their record and it was a hard-fought victory for us."

For most of the first half, neither team could finish their scoring chances as Marist held only a 2-1 lead with 3:30 left before the break. In the ensuing 2:10 of play, however, the Bearcats exploded for five consecutive goals to take a 6-2 advantage. Wichmann had a goal and an assist during that run as did sophomore attack Jake Boyce (Pittsford, N.Y.).

Each team scored once in the third quarter but Binghamton reeled off four straight goals in the first 13 minutes of the final quarter. Wichmann scored his final two goals during that span and senior attack Rob Williams (Fulton, N.Y.) added a goal and an assist.

Williams finished the game with two goals and an assist while Boyce had a goal and two assists.

Sophomore attack Nick Hautau led Marist with two goals while senior midfielder Keith Detelj added a goal and an assist.

In goal, sophomore goalie Larry Kline (Beverly, Mass.) recorded 11 saves while sophomore faceoff specialist J.P. Wioncek (Beverly, Mass.) won 11 of 19 draws.

The Bearcats outshot Marist 46-33 and scored a pair of man-up goals (in seven attempts).

Binghamton hosts Sacred Heart next Saturday at 1 p.m.
