The Game Story:
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team used a five-goal third quarter to break open a one-goal game en route to a 12-5 victory over Robert Morris Saturday in Moon Township, Pa. Juniors Jeff Ryan (3g, 1a) and Joel Dalgarno (1g, 3a) led the Buckeyes with four points each, while junior Peet Poillon had three points (2g, 1a). Senior goalie Stefan Schroder made 14 saves in the win, including nine in the second half. Sophomore Ryan Lowe added two goals, while sophomore James Green and senior Kevin Buchanan each had a goal and an assist.

The teams combined for just five goals in the first half, going into halftime with the Buckeyes ahead, 3-2. Ohio State freshman Scott Lathrop found Lowe for the first goal of the game with 5:52 left in the first quarter. The Colonials tied the game on Corbyn Tao-Brambleby’s man-up score with 45 seconds left in the quarter. Dalgarno set up Ryan with four seconds left to again give the Buckeyes the lead. RMU’s Taylor Caparosa knotted the score at 2 two minutes into the second quarter. Sophomore Mario Ventiquattro, assisted by Ryan, put the Buckeyes ahead 35 seconds later (12:25), the first tally in a six-goal Buckeye run.

Ohio State scored five goals in the third quarter, including three man-up tallies. Buchanan set up senior Josh Funk at 7:35 to push the lead to two (4-2). The Buckeyes then scored four times in the final 4:12 of the quarter to head into the fourth ahead, 8-2. Poillon scored a man-up goal at 4:12, assisted by Dalgarno, followed by Ryan’s unassisted extra-man tally at 3:01. The squad then scored twice in 48 seconds, with Green assisting on a Lowe goal at 1:50 and Dalgarno finding Buchanan with Ohio State a man up at 1:02.

The Colonials ended the Buckeye run with two goals within 10 seconds 56 seconds into the fourth quarter, as Pat Smith scored a man-up goal at 14:14 and Dan Kerch scored at 14:04. The Buckeyes scored the next four goals, including unassisted tallies from Dalgarno at 13:16, Ryan at 9:55 and Poillon at 6:19. Poillon set up Green for a man-up score at 5:27, which closed out the Buckeye scoring. RMU’s Rob Marasti tallied at 3:30 for the 12-5 final.

Each team took 34 shots in the game. In the Buckeye cage, Schroder played 55:22 and made 14 saves, allowing four goals. Sophomore Brandon Freeman played 4:38 of the fourth quarter, making one save and allowing one goal. Robert Morris’ Sal Barcia had nine saves in all 60 minutes.

Ohio State converted 4-of-6 extra-man chances in the game, including 3-for-3 in the third quarter. Robert Morris was 2-for-4.

Game Notes
The Buckeyes will play at Villanova Tuesday in Villanova, Pa.

Ohio State has held each of its opponents to eight goals or less this year.

Dalgarno now has 108 points as a Buckeye, with 63 goals and 45 assists, to remain in 21st place in program history in career points. Dalgarno extended his point streak, which began in his first game as a Buckeye, to 32 games. He shares the team point lead with 17 points. He has three or more points in each of the last four games.

Lowe had a career-high two goals.

Freshman TJ Smith saw his first action as a Buckeye.

Green has two points in all five games this season, with a goal and an assist in each of the last four outings.

Poillon has at least three points in four of five games this year.

Funk has a goal in each of the last three games.

Schroder’s 14 saves were a season best.

Buchanan now has 116 points as a Buckeye to move into 19th place alone in program history. Buchanan is on a 34-game point streak that began with two games remaining in the 2005 season (May 1, 2005 vs. Fairfield). He has 61-45-106 totals during the stretch and has multiple points in each of his last 17 games. He leads the Buckeyes in goals (13) this year and is tied for the point lead with 17 points.
