The Game Story:
Orangeburg, NY (4/19/08) The #2 New York Institute of Technology Bears defeated host Dominican College Chargers, 16-5 this afternoon in East Coast Conference (ECC) men's lacrosse action at the DC Lacrosse Field. With the win, the Bears stay undefeated with a 10-0 overall record and a 4-0 ECC record, while the Chargers fall to 4-7 overall and 0-3 in the ECC.

The Bears got on the board with 13:12 remaining in the first quarter as junior attacker Keith Henderson (Port Jefferson Station, NY) put it in the Charger net of a pass by Matt Sullivan (West Islip, NY).

DC evened the score with 4:34 remaining in the first as Dan Celebre (Lake Grove, NY) scored a goal off the dish by junior Remo Montalbano (Saugerties, NY). NYIT answered back with two goals to finish out the first quarter with a 3-1 lead.

In the second, the Chargers cut the lead to 3-2 as freshman Jesse Peterson (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) netted the unassisted goal.

NYIT then went on a 10-0 run that spanned from the second quarter through the fourth to take a 13-2 lead. Attacker Jeremy Arcaro (New Windsor, NY) broke the run with a man-up goal off the pass from Peterson with 12:58 remaining in the game and senior Kyle Miller (Copaigue, NY) followed with the team's second man up goal off the pass from Owen Smith III (Cornwall, NY) to make the lead 13-4.

The Bears broke the run with a goal, but Arcaro answered back with his second goal of the game off the pass by Celebre. NYIT got the game's last goal with 0:44 seconds left as junior Taylor Poschman (Cold Spring Harbor, NY) found the net off a pass from Joe Varecha (Commack, NY) for the final 16-5 NYIT victory.

Henderson led the Bears with seven goals and one assist. Matt Messina (Sayville, NY) scored two goals and two assists, while Frank Piccola (Sayville, NY) added two goals and Sullivan had two assists in the win.

Arcaro led the Chargers with two goals.

Charger goalie Joe Assante (Hicksville, NY) had 13 saves in 45:18 minutes in the net.
