The Game Story:
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College first-year Owen Smith scored a career-high four goals to lead the Polar Bear men's lacrosse team to a 12-9 win over Amherst on Saturday. The key NESCAC win gives the Polar Bears (8-4, 4-3) sole possession of fourth place in the conference standings entering the final week of the regular season. Amherst drops to 7-6 (2-5) with the loss.

Bowdoin never trailed after scoring the first three goals of the game. Amherst trimmed the lead to 3-2 after consecutive goals to end the first and start the second quarter. The Polar Bears pushed their lead to 6-3 at intermission and to 12-7 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Smith was aided by two goals from Mike Giordano and Thadd Welch. Gordon Convery (five saves, three goals against) and Alex Gluck (six saves, three goals against) split time in net for Bowdoin. T.J. Jackson led Amherst with three goals, while John-Thomas Milone and Will Ferrer scored two apiece. Matt Pietroforte made 13 saves in net for Amherst.
