The Game Story:
RADNOR, Pa. (March 19) – The second-ranked Gettysburg College men’s lacrosse team scored the game-winning goal with 32 seconds remaining in overtime to hold off #9 Cabrini College 9-8 this afternoon. The Cavaliers drop their first contest of the season, falling to 4-1, while the Bullets remain undefeated with a 6-0 mark.

Sophomore Rich Romanelli led the Cavaliers with three goals while sophomore Casey Grugan tallied two, including the only score of the fourth period, which forced the extra minutes.

Both juniors Kevin Fahey and Mike Dolente won six face-offs and junior Jeff Moore recorded a team-best four ground balls and seven caused turnovers.

Junior Kevin Chenoweth played 63:28 minutes in the net for the Cavaliers and stopped eight of the Bullets’ shots.

The Cavaliers built a 2-0 lead with goals from senior Pat Jenkins and junior Matt Conaway in the first seven minutes of play before Gettysburg knotted the score, tallying two goals in the final minute of the opening period.

Gettysburg took its first lead of the game (5-4) with seven seconds left in the first half off back-to-back goals from Joe Brody but Grugan evened the score just before the break with a goal with one second on the clock.

The Bullets attacked first in the third quarter with a score at the 10:22 mark and the teams exchanged goals before Gettysburg held an 8-7 edge at the end of the period.

Just seven seconds into the fourth period, Grugan scored the final goal in regulation.

Gettysburg held a slight 33-31 edge in shots and recorded four more ground balls than Cabrini (34-30).
