The Game Story:
CORTLAND -- Cortland raced out to a 16-0 lead after one quarter and cruised to a 30-0 win at home versus SUNY Utica/Rome in the SUNYAC opener for both teams. The Red Dragons (3-1, 1-0 SUNYAC), ranked fourth nationally in Division III, outshot the Wildcats 47-0 and posted their first shutout since a 16-0 win over Oswego in 1979.

Twenty players recorded at least one point for the Red Dragons. Sophomore Mike Bryant (Hamburg/Frontier Central) finished with three goals and five assists and junior Tommy Maier (Fairport) recorded two goals and seven assists. Sophomore Drew Hyatt (Jamesville/Jamesville-DeWitt) had three goals and three assists, freshman Jack Popper (Merrick/Bellmore JFK) registered three goals and two assists, junior Craig Degnan (Rockville Center/South Side) scored three times and sophomore Brad Ertl (East Aurora/Iroquois) finished with two goals and two assists.

Three other Red Dragons -- sophomore Andrew Roth (Ridgewood, NJ/Don Bosco Prep), senior Jason Lambert (Brentwood) and freshman Doug Muhlbauer (West Islip) -- scored two goals apiece and senior Rob McKeefrey (Melville/Half Hollow Hills West) had a goal and three assists.

Senior Long Gu (China/Delhi CC) made 10 saves for the Wildcats (0-3, 0-1 SUNYAC). Three goalies played for Cortland. Junior Steve Feltmann (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) started and played the first quarter. Junior Michael Draper (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) played the next two quarters plus 5:02 of the fourth period. Freshman Philip Ilardi (Rocky Point) played the final 9:58.

Cortland will host 11th-ranked Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
