The Game Story:
GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Pete Milliman (Rochester, NY/Brighton) and Kevin Smith (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) each recorded a hat-trick to help lead second-ranked Gettysburg to a 19-4 victory over Trinity (CT) in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Saturday. The Bantams' (0-1) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Sean Rohan at the 13:22 mark of the first quarter, but the Bullets (5-0) tied it 1-all when Wes Cadman (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) found Milliman for a man-up goal at 9:57.

Gettysburg took the lead for good when Rich Sharp (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough Reg.) found Smith for a point-blank shot with 7:16 remaining in the first quarter. Jake Van Nostrand (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) scored his 17th goal of the season at the 3:45 mark to give the Bullets a 3-1 lead, forcing Trinity to call timeout. Just 45 seconds into the second period, Sharp dished out his second assist of the day when Nick Purkat (Annandale, VA/W.T. Woodson) scored from the top of the box to make it 4-1.

Ric Bremer (Ridgefield, CT/John Jay [NY[) scored on a pass from Purkat to extend Gettysburg's lead to 5-1 with 11:50 remaining in the period. Less than a minute later, Milliman found Smith for his second goal of the game. The Bullets continued their scoring spree when Bremer found Milliman to make it 7-1 at the 5:22 mark of the second quarter. With 19 seconds remaining on the clock, Purkat tallied his eighth goal of the season on a pass from Milliman, giving Gettysburg an 8-1 lead heading into halftime.

Cadman, Smith and Chris Baran (Newington, CT/Newington) all added a goal in the third quarter to help the Bullets take a commanding 11-1 lead. After being held scoreless in the second quarter and the first five minutes of the third, Ravi Pillay assisted Jake Dore for Trinity's second goal of the day at the 10:17 mark. Gettysburg responded with an unassisted goal by Sharp to push the lead to 12-2 with 10:02 remaining in the third quarter. Chris Shipps (Rockville, MD/Georgetown Prep) picked up his first career assist on a pass to Van Nostrand in front of the goal at the 8:56 mark. Milliman collected his third goal of the game when he scored on a pass from Bremer to make it 14-2 with 7:16 left on the clock. John O'Bannon (Marshall, VA/Highland) added the Bullets seventh goal of the period, his first of the season, with eight seconds remaining in the period.

Gettysburg opened the scoring in the fourth quarter when freshman Dusty Coombe (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis Christian) scored his first collegiate goal on a pass from Van Nostrand to make it 16-2 with 10:09 remaining in the game. The Bantams' Pete Rogers scored at the 7:52 mark and added his second goal of the day with 3:27 remaining in the game. Bret McConnaughhay (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) tallied his first two goals of the season while O'Bannon collected his second goal of the game and season for the Bullets.
