become the all-time leader in career points at Goucher College, he apparently
has designs on adding to his record total to make it as difficult for others to
reach as possible. In his first game after surpassing Tim Asher's career total
of 199 points, Anthony had a hand in nine goals as the Gophers overwhelmed
Catholic, 19-5, today in Gopher Stadium.
With his five-goal, four-assist performance today, the senior attackman not
only saw his career total grow to 210 points, but he also tied another school
record that belonged to Asher. Asher, who played at Goucher from 1996-99,
completed his career with 121 goals.
For the fifth time this season, Anthony scored at least one goal in all four
periods.
The Gophers (6-5, 2-3 Capital Athletic Conference) jumped out to a 3-0 lead by
scoring goals on their first three shots of the contest. Anthony's first goal
of the game with less than :05 showing on the clock allowed Goucher to end the
first period leading 6-2. He had two goals and a pair of assists in the second
quarter, helping the Gophers widen their lead to 12-4 by halftime.
Ashley Tarran-Jones (Manchester, England/Stockport Grammer) supplied the
Gophers with four goals, and Qadir Stern (Lower Merion, PA/Lower Merion) scored
three times and was credited with a pair of assists.
Eric Slagle had a hand in four of Catholic's goals, scoring three times and
picking up an assist on a goal by Justin Kelly.
With the victory, the Gophers defeated the Cardinals (5-8, 0-6 Capital Athletic
Conference) for the fifth time in as many all-time meetings.
