The Game Story:
HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 6 Haverford College men’s lacrosse team lost to No. 8 Cabrini College, 13-8, Wednesday afternoon on Walton Field.

Brian Fleishhacker led the Fords with three goals. Mike Distler netted two goals. Grant Firestone and Jason Leeds each had two assists. Jake Mendlinger had 10 saves in net.

Scott Reimer and Matt McKinney led the Cavaliers with three goals each. Paul Skulski and Casey Grugan each netted a pair. Bobby Chambers played the first half in net, making four saves. Kevin Chenoweth took the cage in the second half, making six saves.

Fleishhacker opened the scoring just 18 seconds into the game to put Haverford (9-3) up by one. Cabrini (11-2) answered at the 10:53 mark. The teams traded goals until the score was knotted at three.

The Cavaliers’ Grugan broke the 3-all tie at the 8:43 mark of the second quarter and Carbini never relinquished the lead. Distler scored his first goal of the game to make the score 5-4 Cabrini. The Cavaliers scored two more goals before Distler scored his second goal with 29 second left in the first half make the score 7-5 at the break.

Cabrini scored the only two goals in the third quarter to take a 9-5 lead. The Fords cut the lead to 9-7, but the Cavaliers kept Haverford at bay and won the game by a 13-8 score.

Cabrini capitalized on five of its seven extra-man opportunities. The Fords converted 1-of-5.

Haverford will get back to Centennial Conference action on Saturday as it hosts McDaniel for a 1 p.m. game at Walton Field.
