The Game Story:
ST. DAVID’S, Pa. – The No. 9 Haverford College men’s lacrosse team remained perfect on the season, defeating Eastern University on Monday afternoon, 13-5. The Fords trailed 3-2 in the second period, but scored eight unanswered goals.

Max Hjelm led all players with four goals and four assists. Brian Fleishhacker scored three goals while Mike Distler recorded three goals and three assists. Jake Mendlinger turned in another solid performance in goal with nine saves.

Michael Hofmeister gave Eastern (0-4) a 1-0 lead 46 seconds into the contest. Haverford (4-0) did not get on the board until the 8:40 mark on a goal by Fleishhacker. The scored was tied at two-all after one period, but the Eagles made it 3-2 on a Ben O’Donnell goal 1:26 into the second.

That was Eastern’s final lead of the game as Haverford scored the next eight goals and did not allow the Eagles to score until the 1:49 mark in the third period. Hjelm and Distler scored goals to give the Fords a 4-3 advantage heading into the half.

Hjelm scored two goals 43 seconds a part early in the third period to extend the lead to three goals. Seven different Fords scored a goal in the contest. Haverford outshot the Eagles 41-18.

The Fords open Centennial Conference play this Saturday at No. 2 Gettysburg. Haverford upset Gettysburg, 6-5, in the conference opener last season when the Bullets were also ranked No. 2. However, the Bullets were ranked No.2 when they defeated HC, 12-11, in the Centennial Conference semifinals.
