The Game Story:

Tim Pfeffer scored the game-winning goal with eight seconds remaining in the game

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The sixth-ranked men’s lacrosse team defeated 11th-ranked Nazareth, 10-9 this afternoon for their tenth win of the season. Junior Tim Pfeffer (Penfield/Penfield) scored with eight seconds remaining in the game, his first goal in five games.

Nazareth opened the game with three unanswered goals and lead Ithaca 5-2 at the half. The Golden Flyers tallied two goals to begin the third, stretching their lead to 7-2. Ithaca scored eight of the next ten goals, including a man-up goal by Alec Siefert (Duxbury/Duxbury, Mass.) at 3:34 on the fourth to tie the game before Pfeffer tallied his third game-winning goal of the season.

Senior Logan Bobzien (Arapahoe/Centennial, Colo.) led the team with four points (two goals, two assists) and junior Matt Cutter (Needham/Needham, Mass.) had three points in the game. Senior Kevin Bush (Arapahoe [Colo.]/St. George Island, Fla.) scored two goals for the Bombers, his 12th and 13th of the season. Classmate Brandon Rose (Rush-Henrietta/Rochester) tallied his first goal of the season, and Matt Nelligan (Pingree School/Rowley, Mass.) and Craig Lepiane (West Irondequoit/Rochester) both added goals for the Bombers.

Freshman David Gal (Loomis Chafee (Conn.)/Amherst, Mass.) picked up his second win of the season, and tied his career-high with seven saves.

Ithaca improved to 10-1 on the season, 4-1 in the Empire 8. The Bombers are in sole possession of first place in the Empire 8, a half game ahead of Rochester Institute of Technology and Stevens Institute of Technology.

The Bombers return to action on Wednesday when they host Union at 4 p.m.
