The Game Story:
The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team dug itself into an early hole and couldn't climb out in a 15-9 loss to 18th ranked Villa Julie College on Saturday at the Battleground. The Eagles slip to 3-3 overall, and 2-1 in Capital Athletic Conference play.

The nationally-ranked Mustangs scored five of the game's first six goals. The Eagles then used goals by Brian Meaney and Dan Coats to cut the deficit to 6-3. But then a series of Eagle penalties allowed several Mustang extra man opportunities, and Villa Julie held a 9-3 halftime advantage.

The Mustangs upped the lead to 12-4 in the third quarter, but UMW rallied with a pair of Coats goals to move the score to 12-6. The two teams traded goals the rest of the way for a 15-9 final.

UMW was led by Coats' four goals and Sean Brown's two goals and two assists. Nicola Bevacqua had five goals for Villa Julie.

The Eagles will host Goucher College on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
