in the NESCAC as they picked up a 9-5 win over Colby at Kohn Field in
Vermont. The Panthers return to action next Wednesday as they host
Springfield at 3:00 p.m.
Colby held a 2-1 lead early before Middlebury tied the game at two
with 5:10 left in the first quarter. The goals would be the last for Colby
until they got on the board again with 12:57 left in the fourth quarter. The
Panthers led 4-2 at the half and then scored three goals in the first 4:50
of the third quarter to take a 7-2 lead. The lead grew to 8-2 before Colby
made it an 8-3 contest with 12:57 left in the fourth quarter. Middlebury
scored again before the White Mules scored twice in 38 seconds to make it a
9-5 final.
Mike Saraceni led Middlebury with a goal and four assists, while
Mark Foster and Charley Howe scored two goals apiece. Joshua Cleaver scored
three goals for Colby, while Trenholm Boggs added two.
Eric Krieger made nine saves in goal for Middlebury, while Matthew
LaPaglia made 25 stops for Colby.
