The Game Story:
Middlebury scored the first 10 goals of the game en route to a 14-3 victory over Trinity at Alumni Stadium. The Panthers who improve to 8-3 and 6-1 in NESCAC play will host Williams in their final regular season home game next Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Trinity falls to 5-6 overall and 2-6 in conference play.


Middlebury scored four goals in both the first and second quarter to build an 8-0 lead at the half. Jonathan Sisto opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 13:05 mark in the first and would add another in the second. Jim Cabrera netted three in the half including two man-up scores.


In the third quarter, Nick Bastis scored back-to-back goals just 11 seconds apart as he tallied his first goal with 9:29 on the clock and added his second with 9:18 remaining to make it a 10-0 advantage for the Panthers. Trinity finally got on the board at the 5:44 mark in the third when Kris Tedeschi got one past back-up Panther goalie Pete Britt who replaced starter Alex Palmisano in who shut out the Bantams during his time in net. Both teams would exchange goals later in the third as the quarter ended with the Panthers leading 11-2.


Tom Petty’s consecutive scores in the fourth extended the lead to 13-2. Tedeschi’s second goal of the game with just 3:42 remaining brought Trinity to within 10. Middlebury’s Mike Stone’s would answer just 13 seconds later with his second goal of the game to finish the scoring for both teams.


Cabrera led all scorers with three goals as Stone, Bastis, Petty and Sisto all collected two goals for the Panthers. Tedeschi’s two goals and Art Schweitzer’s two assists lead Trinity’s attack.
