The Game Story:
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (April 10, 2004) -- Sixth-ranked Nazareth opened the new stadium in style winning their third straight game by cruising past rival Harwtick with a 26-12 win in men's lacrosse Saturday afternoon. Nazareth built an 8-0 in the first quarter and went on to remain undefeated in the Empire 8 with goals from 16 different players.

The Golden Flyers scored the first eleven goals of the game and easily maintained the lead the rest of the way. Bryan Coon (Webster HS/Webster, NY) and Justin Wahl (Penn Yan Academy, Penn Yan, NY) each scored three of those first eleven goals. Coon (pictured) finished the game with three goals and one assist. Andrew Russo (Upper Darby HS/ Secane, PA) and Bryan Adams (Guilderland HS/Schenectady, NY) each added two goals. Ryan Hotaling (Onondaga/Syracuse, NY) got the first of his three goals with under one minute to play in the second quarter to stake Nazareth to a 13-3 halftime lead.

Brandon Brown (Ithaca HS/Ithaca, NY) opened the third quarter with two goals in the first minute as the Golden Flyers continued to dominate the game. Brown finished the game with two goals and one assist. Greg Kanellis (Cortland HS, Cortland, NY) kept the pressure on Hartwick by adding a goal with under two seconds left in the third quarter to give Nazareth a 23-7 lead going into the fourth quarter. Kanellis had a strong game and added another goal in the fourth quarter to go along with his earlier goal and two assists. Brian Navarra (Watertown HS/Watertown, NY) had one goal and two assists for the Golden Flyers.

Josh Porcell (Bridgton Academy/Gansevoort, NY) led the Hawks attack with three goals and one assist. Greg Cohan (Farmingdale HS/Farmingdale, NY) also had three goals and Mike Debrossy (Westfield HS/Westfield, NJ) had two goals and one assist. Goalie Mark Colite (Southington HS/Southington, CT) made 11 saves in the losing effort.

Nazareth dominated most of the statistical categories in the win. They held the edge in shots (67-46), groundballs (59-45) and faceoffs (28-14). Russo was 14 of 19 on faceoffs in the game.

Nazareth looks to continue their winning streak as they host Alfred Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the stadium.
