| The Game Story: | The Oneonta State men's lacrosse team scored twenty straight goals this
afternoon en route to a 23-1 rout of visiting SUNYIT in SUNYAC action at All
College Field. The win for the Red Dragons brings its overall record to 5-6
and 3-1 in conference play while the Wildcats fall to 0-8 overall and 0-4 in
the SUNYAC.
The hosts didn't register its first goal until the 12:34 mark of the
opening quarter when junior Matt Winchell (Syracuse, NY/Henniger) took a pass
from classmate James Battaglia (Saratoga, NY/Saratoga Springs) who then found
the back of the goal for the 1-0 lead. The floodgates opened after the opening
goal as Oneonta found itself with a 12-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Junior Ben Sander (Pomona, NY/Lakeland) led the attack with three of his four
goals on the day in the opening quarter.
The lone goal for the Wildcats came less than one minute into the
fourth quarter when junior Dan Flechsenhaar (Penn Yan, NY/Finger Lakes) scored
with an assist from classmate Pat Amidon (LaFayette, NY/Onondaga). The Red
Dragons finished the day with 15 different players registering a point led by
Sander and freshman Evan Mann (Woodbury, NY/Syosset) who each tallied five
points each.
The Red Dragons will be in action again this coming Saturday when they
travel to Rochester to face St. John Fisher for a game that begins at 7:00 p.m. |
