The Game Story:
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Senior Ryan Heath (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) scored seven points on five goals and two assists, senior Billy Fuchs (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) contributed three goals and three assists and junior goalie Mike Robinson (Alexandria, VA/Thomas Edison) stopped a career-high 16 shots as the nationally third-ranked men's lacrosse team defeated RIT, 17-7, Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

Senior Kyle Simensky (Locust Valley) netted three goals for Cortland (4-0), while senior Adam Hyde (West Seneca/West Seneca East) added two goals and two assists, senior Chris Hannon (Baldwin) chipped in with a goal and two assists and sophomore Chris Dutkowsky (Vestal) recorded a goal and an assist. Freshman goalie Tom Holden (Corning/Corning East) replaced Robinson with one minute, five seconds to play and did not register a save.

For the Tigers, Sean Gillies scored three goals and Andrew Ruocco registered a pair of assists. Brad Conlon started between the pipes and made eight saves through three quarters before giving way to Kevin Rattigan, who stopped eight shots in the fourth quarter.

Cortland jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first 15 minutes and extended its advantage to 7-2 at intermission. After RIT (3-3) cut the margin to 7-3 early in the third quarter, the Red Dragons scored five straight goals, including three by Simensky, to take command of the game with a 12-3 lead.

Cortland was up 13-5 heading into the fourth quarter and extended its advantage to 15-5 before the teams traded the last four goals for the final outcome.
