The Game Story:
SALEM, VA--The Roanoke College men's lacrosse team got goals from 10
different players in a 19-4 win over Randolph-Macon College on
Saturday afternoon in Salem, VA. The fifth-ranked Maroons improve to
8-2 overall and 3-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
Randolph-Macon falls to 4-4 overall, with all four losses coming
consecutively, and 0-3 in the ODAC.

The Maroons went up 2-0 after the first quarter and extended their
lead to 5-0 in the early stages of the second quarter. After Chaz
Carlson scored on a Chris Keating assist with 14:37 left, Keating
won the ensuing face-off and quickly moved the ball to Zach Thomas
for a second Roanoke goal in just six seconds. With 13:08 left in
the second, Jon Mason scored on a Pat Hurley assist, the eventual;
game-winning goal.

The Yellow Jackets broke on to the scoreboard with a Brendan Toone
man-up goal, but for the second time in the quarter the Maroon
scored a goal directly off of a face-off. This time Nick Derby won
the ball on the wing and moved the ball to Mason who scored 10
seconds after the RMC goal. The Yellow Jackets got their second goal
on a one-on-one move from Simon Youssef with eight minutes left in
the half. Hurley and Mason tallied late in the quarter for the
Maroons, with Mason's coming on a man-up fastbreak.

The Maroons scored all six of the goals in the third quarter,
including the final of the quarter with just 0:00.2 left on the
clock. After a Maroon shot went over the end-line with just two
second left Mason fed a pass to the crease, on the restart, where
Keating caught and scored behind-the-back.

The Maroons outscored the Yellow Jackets 5-2 in the third, with
Roanoke's final three goals coming from Mike Miginsky, Adam Ariosa,
and Adam Saunders.

The Maroons held a sizable advantage on the stat page, outshooting
the Yellow Jackets 62-10, winning 16 of the 26 face-offs, and
picking up 58 groundballs, compared to 24 for Randolph-Macon.

Mason had five goals and a career-high three assists, while Keating
scored twice and added a game-best four assists. Rob Clements had
two assists for the Maroons, who got 12-for-15 performance from
Billy Cameron on face-offs.

Randolph-Macon goalie Brian Vierheller stopped 20 shots on the day.
Rich Wilkens tallied two assists for the Yellow Jackets in the loss.

The Maroons are back in action next Sunday in a road game against
the Generals of Washington & Lee University. The game in Lexington,
VA is schedule to start at 1:30pm.
