With the win, the Pride improve to 6-5 and stay perfect in league play with a 4-0 record. The loss drop the Lasers to 8-3, 3-1.
Springfield jumped all over Lasell in the opening quarter as it held a 12-4 advantage in ground balls, and a 15-2 advantage in shots. Beebe started off the scoring after fired a bullet pass across the field and found teammate Joe Heney all alone in front of the cage. Heney converted the man-up goal for the Pride as he found the back of the cage at the 11:39 mark. The Pride tallied the second goal of the game 48 seconds later when Tyler Montgomery turned from eight yards out and connected top shelf. With 6:39 left in the first half, Beebe fed Greg Welch, who fired from 15 yards out and beat Lasell goal Mark DeMieri low for the Pride’s third tally. Beebe then finished off the first quarter scoring when he took advantage of a Laser broken clear with four seconds remaining.
Lasell’s Brandon Keith finished a Mike Maggio to cut the Pride’s lead to three after he connected on a man up goal 1:58 into the second quarter. Kyle Gable then sparked the Pride’s 4-0 run to close out the half as he buried a shot from five yards out after curling through the defense with 11:47 to play. Beebe added SC’s next two goals and Joe Macchi tacked on the final of the stanza on a bounce shot form 15 yards out to give Springfield an 8-1 lead at the half.
Maggio netted a man-up goal 21 seconds into the second half but the Pride attack was too much as it responded with four unanswered goals to take control of the game for good. Even defenseman Joe Malvezzi got into the scoring act for the Pride as he broke up a Lasell clear and fired a shot from 20 yards out into an empty cage.
Springfield outshot the visitors, 55-18, and held a 52-18 advantage in ground balls in the game. DeMieri, who currently leads the country in save percentage in goals against was spectacular at moments as he made 13 saves. Allowing on average 4.69 goals per game, the Pride netted 12 goals in the game against the Laser goalie.
Macchi finished with three goals and an assist, while Gable added two an an assist as well. Eight different members of the Pride scored in the game, while Tom Albano picked up the win as he made just six saves. Chris Jez dominated the "X" all night as he went 13-of-17. Jason Farrell had a game-high seven ground balls, while Chris Sharpe was all over the field, causing four turnovers and scooping up five ground balls.
Maggio led the Laser attack with two goals and an assist.
The Pride return to action this Saturday when it travels to square off against conference-foe Babson. Face-off is slated for 7:00 pm.
