The Game Story:
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Host Washington College held a 59-14 advantage in shots
and a 54-23 advantage in ground balls in a 16-0 shutout of visiting Kean
University in a non-conference men's lacrosse game this evening on Kibler
Field at Kirby Stadium. The Shoremen, who held an 8-0 lead at halftime,
improved to 2-0 with the win, while the Cougars slipped to 0-1 with the loss.

Sophomore attackman Chris Read (Baltimore, MD/Boys Latin) led Washington with
four goals and one assist, while junior midfielder Andrew Ostrusky (Severna
Park, MD/Severna Park/Bridgton, ME) tallied three goals and two assists.
Senior attackman Sam Lane (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield) and freshman attackman
Jimmy Kielek (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley) each scored twice for the
Shoremen. Sophomore attackman Mike Sutter (Ellicott City, MD/Mount St.
Joseph) added three assists, while freshman midfielder Casey O'Connor
(Crownsville, MD/Archbishop Spalding) tallied one goal and one assist.

Sophomore midfielder Steve Humphries (Fairfax, VA/Hayfield Secondary),
freshman midfielder Matt Moreton (Darnestown, MD/Northwest), junior attackman
Tyler Larkin (Severna Park, MD/Severn), and freshman midfielder Jaeke Donahue
(Tiverton, RI/Wheeler School) each scored one goal for Washington. Junior
attackman Kevin Nolan (Clark, NJ/A.L. Johnson), senior defenseman Tim Kerr
(Pasadena, MD/Mount St. Joseph), sophomore midfielder Eric Graupensperger
(Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township), and sophomore midfielder Nick Gregory
(Riva, MD/South River) each tallied one assist.

Senior goalie Kevin Thibadeau (Cheshire, CT/Avon Old Farms) played the first
45 minutes in goal for the Shoremen and made seven saves, while freshman
Gorden Cohen (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) made one save in the final 15
minutes. Dave Nichols played the first 55:30 in goal for the Cougars and made
25 saves while allowing 13 goals.

Washington won 17 of the games' 20 face-offs. Freshman midfielder Thayer Damm
(Huntington Valley, PA/LaSalle) went 7-for-8, while O'Connor finished
6-for-7.

Tonight's game marked the first-ever outdoor varsity athletic contest played
under artificial lighting in Washington College history.

The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. home game against St.
Mary's (MD).
