The Game Story:
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior Adam Cherry (Westfield, MA) tallied a game high four goals with an assist to lead the No. 3 Western New England College men’s lacrosse team to a 20-5 victory over Lasell College Wednesday night (May 2) in a semifinal round game of the Pilgrim League Tournament.

Western New England College will host city rival Springfield College (a 17-6 winner over Babson) at 4:30 p.m. Saturday (May 5) in a re-match of last year’s Pilgrim League Tournament championship game. Springfield, which won last year’s title game 12-11 in double overtime, is the four-time defending league champion.

The Golden Bears took a commanding 7-1 lead after the opening period and never looked back in remaining unbeaten with their school record 15th consecutive victory. The old mark was 14 set in each of the past three seasons.

Junior Bryan Cofrin (Londonderry, NH) added two goals and two assists while junior Mike Kelly (Cheshire, CT) and sophomore Scott Kukis (Sudbury, MA) each contributed two goals and an assist. Junior goalie Chris Body (Newtown, CT) finished with seven saves.

Sophomore Mike Maggio (Winchester, MA) led the Lasers with two goals and an assist. Lasell finished its season with a 6-9 record.
