The Game Story:
3/22/08 -- Widener could not withstand four goals from ninth-ranked Cabrini in the fourth quarter, suffering a gutwrenching 10-9 loss at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.

Down 7-6 entering the final period, Cabrini (5-1) received two man-up goals from Scott Reimer just 2:14 apart for an 8-7 lead. The second came with 8:40 remaining.

Senior Brian Stromko (Maplewood, NJ) tallied with 4:59 left to bring the Pride (2-5) to an 8-8 tie. But Matt McKinney rescued the Cavaliers, scoring just 37 seconds later for a 9-8 cushion.

Cabrini grabbed its biggest lead, 10-8, with 3:21 to go when Rich Romanelli scored. Widener again answered and it was Stromko delivering, finding the back of the net with 2:08 left for a one-goal game.

The Pride had several good chances to score in the last two minutes, however goalkeeper Kevin Chenoweth was there for the Cavaliers. Widener had the ball following a timeout with 9.3 seconds left, but sophomore Cory Malampy (Ridley, PA) had his shot saved by Chenoweth as time expired.

Widener would not have been in the game if not for the solid play of senior goalkeeper Tim Collins (Yorktown Heights, NY). He made 13 saves to fall one shy of his season best, including six in the fourth quarter.

Stromko finished with four goals and an assist for the Pride and sophomore Dave Simcox (Ridley, PA) amassed seven ground balls.

Reimer notched a hat trick, McKinney recorded two goals and Chenoweth made 14 saves for Cabrini, which went 3-for-4 on extra-man opportunities.

The Pride held a 4-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, thanks to a goal and an assist from senior Luke Weber (Lititz, PA).

Widener is off until next Saturday, when it visits Montclair State. Game time is 1:00 pm.
