The Game Story:
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Junior Ryan McCafferty (Orlando, FL/Boone) scored four goals and dished out two assists, and sophomore Aaron Weber (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) and first-year student Kurt Deschner (Kelowna, BC/Kelowna Secondary) tallied three goals apiece as Elizabethtown College defeated Lycoming College 11-8 in Middle Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon.

With the victory, the Blue Jays (5-8 overall, 3-3 MAC) remain alive for the fourth and final playoff spot in the MAC with one regular-season game remaining, at King's College on Saturday.

McCafferty scored once in each quarter, while Deschner gave the Blue Jays the lead for good on a goal with 2:58 left in the second quarter. Weber scored two of his three goals in the second half, and also assisted on goals by McCafferty and Deschner in the first half.

Dan Cannon led the Warriors (9-5 overall, 4-2 MAC) with three goals while Ed Williams had a pair of tallies for Lycoming, which held its only lead of the day at 1-0 on a goal by Jim Cusick just 2:42 into the first quarter.

The match was tied 2-2 at the end of one quarter, and goals by Weber and McCafferty were answered by Nate Walter and Cannon to knot the contest at 4-4 with 4:44 left in the first half.

After Deschner gave the Blue Jays a 5-4 lead prior to halftime, McCafferty extended the Elizabethtown advantage to 6-4 on his third goal of the day with 11:26 left in the third quarter.

The Warriors would get within a goal at 6-5 on a tally by Andrew Stoner midway through the quarter, but back-to-back goals from the Blue Jays in the final four minutes of the third quarter gave Elizabethtown an 8-5 lead, and Lycoming would pull no closer than two goals the rest of the game.

Senior Gary Senese (Leonardtown, MD/Tatnall School, DE) led Elizabethtown with six ground balls on the afternoon, while Mike Doherty collected 12 ground balls for Lycoming, most coming on his 18 faceoff wins in 22 attempts.

Senior Chris Schuch (Columbia, PA/Hempfield) earned the win with seven saves in goal for Elizabethtown, while Kyle Gilfoy finished with eight stops for Lycoming.
