The Game Story:
The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team dropped a 12-7 decision to visiting Ithaca College on Tuesday night at Fisher's Growney Stadium.
Fisher held a 5-3 lead midway through the second period, but the Bombers, ranked third nationally, scored four unanswered goals to end the half, and nine of the game's next ten goals to remain unbeaten at 8-0 overall, 2-0 in the Empire 8.

With the loss, Fisher falls to 6-2 overall, 1-2 in the Empire 8.

The two squads battled back and forth during the opening minutes of the game before sophomore Dave Malone (Penfield/Penfield) opened up the scoring for the Cardinals, tying the contest at one goal apiece midway through the opening quarter. The Bombers however, answered back just 11 seconds later before Matt Kaiser (Waterloo/Waterloo) tied the game again with an unassisted goal with 6:58 remaining in the first.

Ithaca inched ahead again with a goal late in the first period, but the Cardinals rallied with a three-goal run to take the lead. With just under one minute to play, Chris Schmidt (West Genesee/Camillus) found the back of the net off of a Dennis Bell (Penfield/Rochester) pass, while Ryan Kavanaugh (West Genesee/Syracuse) gave the Cardinals their first lead of the game when he scored on a leaping goal off of a Jeff Price (Honeoye-Falls Lima/Lima) assist. Malone notched his second goal of the game, and gave Fisher a two-goal advantage, when he beat the Ithaca goalie with a bouncing shot as he was hit by a defender.

The Cardinals held the lead for 4:02 before Ithaca stormed back with a 4-0 run that gave the Bombers the lead for good.

Fisher cut the lead down to just one goal at the 5:40 mark of the third quarter when Bell scored his sixth goal of the season, but Ithaca put the game out of reach with five unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to earn the win.

Malone finished with two goals and one assist to lead Fisher, with Bell notching two points (one goal, one assist). Schmidt, Kavanaugh, Kaiser, and Mike Cortina (Binghamton/Binghamton) each tallied one goal apiece in the loss, while Dave Wood (Vestal/Vestal), who won 10-of-22 faceoffs, scooped up a team-best eight ground balls. Jon Cortina (Binghamton/Binghamton) made seven saves for Fisher.
