The Game Story:
WASHINGTON, Pa.– In a season opener that was delayed twice due to wintry field conditions, the Susquehanna University men's lacrosse team got hot in the final two periods to clinch a 12-6 win over Washington and Jefferson Monday.

Sophomore midfielder Fred Morse (Rochester, N.Y./Pittsford-Sutherland) opened the scoring at the 10:41 mark in the first period on an unassisted goal. The Presidents responded with three straight goals, but junior defender Colin Fadrowski (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) struck at 12:30 in the second period to lead off a six-goal barrage by the Crusaders.

Washington and Jefferson added two more to start the fourth period, then Susquehanna fired home four more goals, three straight in a period of 42 seconds by junior attack Greg Norris (St. Catharines, ON/Dennis Morris). Both teams traded goals in the waning minutes of the game, Susquehanna's coming once again from Norris, who led the Crusaders on the day with four goals and three assists.

Junior midfielder Matt Trimble (West Chester, Pa./Archmere Academy) added two goals, while senior attack Shane Enos (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) and sophomore midfielder Tom Jakubowski (Royersford, Pa./Spring Ford) chipped in a goal and an assist apiece. Also adding goals for the Crusaders were junior midfielder Brett Brown (Cape Elizabeth, ME/Cape Elizabeth) and senior midfielder Greg Burns (Charlotte, N.C./South Mecklenburg).

Fadrowski led Susquehanna with seven ground balls, while freshman attack Harry Weismantel (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) added six. Senior Kirk Ryan (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) played all 60 minutes in goal, making 10 saves.

The Crusaders next face off against Elizabethtown at Johns Hopkins on March 6 at 7 p.m.
