The Game Story:
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Cazenovia College men’s lacrosse team nearly came away with their second victory of the season Tuesday evening, but lost to the Misericordia Cougars, 7-6, at Nottingham High School.

Goals by Nathan Rosenberger (La Mesa, Ca./Grossmont), Gareth Fabian (Randolph, Vt./Randolph-Union) and Chris Lamb (Ottawa, Ont./Trinity Catholic) had the Wildcats leading 3-0 at the 8:52 mark of the second quarter. The Cougars would score their first goal with six and half minutes left in the half to give the Wildcats a 3-1 lead going in to the break.

Rosenberger added another goal for Cazenovia just 46 second into the third quarter to give the Wildcats a nice three-goal lead. Following Rosenberger’s goal, Misericordia scored three unanswered in a seven minute span to tie the game up at 4-4. The Wildcats stole back the lead with just under a minute left in the quarter when Pat Sauers (Saranac Lake, NY/Saranac Lake) scored on an assist from Lamb.

Just as they did in the third quarter, the Cougars answered Cazenovia’s goal with three straight of their own to take a 7-5 lead with 6:11 left in the game. Sauers added his second goal of the game at the 4:51 mark of the fourth to bring the Wildcats to within one, 7-6, but that would prove to be the last goal of the game for either squad.

Cazenovia had the edge in shots (39-37) and ground balls (41-39) in the loss.

Sauers and Rosenberger led the Wildcats on offense with two goals a piece. Goalie Chris Harrington (Cortland, NY/Cortland) collected 15 saves in 60 minutes in goal for Cazenovia.
