The Game Story:
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Cazenovia College men’s lacrosse team dropped their third straight game Saturday afternoon, losing to the Brockport Golden Eagles, 11-2, at Corcoran High School’s athletic field in Syracuse, N.Y.

The Wildcats played the Golden Eagles tough in the first period, before allowing two goals to face a 2-0 deficit at the end of the quarter. Brockport added their third tally at the 10:44 mark of the second quarter and scored another goal just 43 seconds later to take a 4-0 lead. Cazenovia’s Gareth Fabian (Randolph, VT/Randolph-Union) scored the first goal for the Wildcats with 7:31 left in the third on an unassisted take to the cage. The Golden Eagles scored three more times in the quarter, while Cazenovia was able to add one more when John Rodak (Howell, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) slipped one past Brockport’s goalie on an assist from Fabian.

The Golden Eagles scored two more goals in each of the remaining quarters. Cazenovia failed to score in the second half.

The Wildcats collected slightly more ground balls (23-21) than the Golden Eagles, but could only get off 16 shots compared to 37 for Brockport. Cazenovia did win 11-of-15 face-offs, including 7-of-7 in the second quarter. The Wildcats had eight man-up opportunities, but could not cash in on any of them.

Brockport’s Adam Drypolcher had a game-high three goals in the win and Anthony Ventresca scored two.

Chris Harrington (Cortland, NY/Cortland) collected 12 saves in a full game in goal for the Wildcats.

Cazenovia will face Route 20 rival Morrisville in a home contest on Wednesday, April 2 in their next game.
