The Game Story:
The Ohio State (1-0 overall) women's lacrosse team opened the 2005 season with a 14-2 defeat of Duquesne (2-2) Saturday afternoon on the North Turf Field of the Woody Hayes Athletic Complex. OSU's Kelly Kremer (Fr., Kennett Square, Pa.) scored a game-high four goals for the Buckeyes with KC Carter (Jr., Birchrunville, Pa.), Brandie Williams (Sr., Hatboro, Pa.), Ashley Evans (Sr., Ellicott City, Md.) and Natale Miller (So., Birmingham, Pa.) two each. Duquesne goals were by Ginger Flocco (Sr., Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) and Laura App (Sr., Silver Spring, Md.).

Ohio State jumped to a 10-0 lead in the first half with Williams opening the scoring with 47 seconds gone in the game. Carter scored on a free position attempt at 5:17. Kremer scored the next two goals at 9:57, assisted by Kristen Slahor (Fr., Ellicott City, Md.) and at 12:26 on a free position attempt. Evans then scored back-to-back goals, the first at 16:09 on a free position attempt and her second at 22:39, assisted by Carter. Carter then scored her second goal at 26:45. Miller added OSU's ninth goal at 29:25 and Kremer scored at 29:51 to end the half.

The Dukes opened the scoring in the second half at 44:55 with an App goal, assisted by Margaret Cloutman (So., West Chester, Pa.). OSU's Kremer scored her fourth goal of the game at 45:53 to make it 11-1. Miller's second goal of the game came at 47:31 on a free position shot. At 49:56, the Buckeyes made it 13-1 on a goal by Regina Oliver (Sr., Pottstown, Pa.), assisted by Williams. Duquesne's Flocco made it 13-2 with a goal on a free position shot. Buckeye freshman Molly Gilbert (Baltimore, Md.) closed out the scoring for the Buckeyes at 55:18 for the final 14-2 score.

OSU's Kim Hastings (Jr., Sewickley, Pa.) was in goal for the Buckeyes. She had seven saves in the game, giving up one goal in her 55:28. Joy DeMarco (So., Hudson, Ohio) finished out the game (4:32) for the Buckeyes giving up a goal. Sarah Pacini (Sr., Baldwinsville, N.Y.) took the loss in goal for Duquesne giving up 14goals and recording eight saves.
