The Game Story:
BLACKSBURG, Va. - Freshman Britt Faulkner netted five goals to lead the Virginia Tech lacrosse team to a 14-12 victory over Ohio University, Sunday afternoon at the Virginia Tech Lacrosse Stadium.

The win marked the Hokies sixth straight win this season over an unranked opponent. Tech improves to 5-4 on the year, while Ohio falls to 5-5.

Tech took an early 2-0 lead with straight goals by freshmen Lindsey Pieper and Faulkner. The Bobcats rallied back with a free position goal from Katie Peksa, followed by a goal from Dana Dobbie to tie the score at two all. A goal by Tech's Lindsey Welch off of a pass from fellow senior Kate Threadgold sent the Hokies on a 3-0 run to take a 5-3 lead with 4:11 left in the half. Ohio cut Tech's lead to two after consecutive goals by Lynz Keys and Caitlin Link, but Tech scored three straight goals in the last two minutes of the half to take a four point lead, 8-4.

Ohio's Melissa Menna started the scoring off in the second with a goal at 26:34. Trading points back and forth, Keys netted back-to-back goals to put the Bobcats within two, 12-10, with 7:36 left in the game. Faulkner found the back of the cage for the fifth time on the day with 5:34 left on the clock. The Bobcats went on a late 2-0 run to come within one of the Hokies, 13-12, but Tech senior Hilary Fay scored her third goal of the game off of a free position attempt to clinch the Hokie victory, 14-12.

Fay chipped in three goals to complement Faulkner's five. Welch tallied four points on the day (two goals, two assists) and grabbed three draw controls. On the Hokie defense, sophomore Katie Boyle had a team-high four groundballs, and Pieper and freshman Jamie Webster each tallied three. Tech goalie Jamie McGraw registered nine saves. Keys paced the Bobcats with four goals, while Dobbie and Menna each added two. Dobbie, who leads the nation in draw controls, had eight in the loss.

The Hokies return to action on Wednesday, April 14, when they host Davidson. The game at the Virginia Tech Lacrosse Stadium is set to being at 7 p.m.
