Many of the Bayhawks veteran players are local alumni such as Kyle Dixon, Matt Ward and Connor Gill were welcome home to crowd over 4,026 fans. Andrew “Buggs” Combs nets seven points to help the Bayhawks win home opener and earns the bud light player of the game.
Early in the first quarter, Kyle Dixon started off the Bayhawks scoring with a two point goal to give them an early 2 to 1 lead. The Bayhawks did not look back as they went on a 6 to 0 run with Combs finishing the hat trick with 43 seconds remaining in the first quarter, while Brendan Healy and Matt Ward also added a net each.
Matt Brown came out strong for the Outlaws netting two goals in the second half leading the team on a 5 to 2 run to tie the game at 10 apiece. The Bayhawks fell down by three goals but fought through the second half to pull out the win ending the game with a victory of 17-16 over the Denver Outlaws.
The Bayhawks had an amazing turn out for their home opener at George Mason stadium and would like to give thanks to all their fans and sponsors for their support in attendance. The Washington Bayhawks will return home on June 7th at George Mason University as they take on their eastern conference rival the Rochester Rattlers (2-0). |
