Jed Prossner was named as the Bud Light MVP after scoring two goals with four assists for the Barrage, who have tallied 35 points in their first two games this season.
After the Barrage took a 1-0 lead in the opening two minutes, Long Island answered with four straight goals for a three-goal advantage with 6:25 remaining in the frame. Back-to-back goals from Michael Springerand Justin Smith closed the Philadelphia margin to 4-3 with three seconds left in the opening stanza.
The two goals to end the first quarter ignited a seven-goal burst from the Barrage, giving the defending champions an 8-4 advantage with 3:10 left in the first half. But, the Lizards answered with back-to-back goals in the final 22 seconds to close within 8-6 at the intermission.
Prossner scored both of his goals during the third quarter as the Barrage extended its advantage to 13-9 with five markers in the frame.
Leading by four, the Barrage put the game out of reach by scoring the first three goals of the fourth quarter, including a pair from Michael Springer, for a 16-9 advantage less than five minutes into the final period. Despite three late goals, including two from Frank Resetarits, the Lizards could not mount the comeback and dropped their second straight game.
While Prossner had six points, Springer, Seth Goldberg and Matt Striebel each added four goals in the victory for Philadelphia. Goalkeeper Brian Dougherty had 18 saves in earning the 50th win of his career.
