The Game Story:
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - In their first four games, the Rochester Rattlers had been one of the toughest teams in the fourth quarter in Major League Lacrosse. However, the New Jersey Pride exploded for seven goals to earn their first win of the year, a 16-12 victory over Rochester at PAETEC Park on Saturday evening.

Playing in just his second career MLL game, Matt Danowski was named as the Bud Light MVP after leading the Pride with two goals and three assists.

The Rattlers opened the game by scoring three of the first four goals in the first 10 minutes. However, the Pride used goals from Chris Unterstein and Greg Peyser in the final four minutes of the period to tie the game at 3-3.

After John Grant, Jr. gave Rochester a 4-3 lead, the Pride took a 5-4 advantage with goals from Dan Chemotti and Peyser. The Rattlers rebounded with three straight goals for a 7-5 advantage at the intermission with three straight goals in the final three minutes of the half.

Led by a goal and two assists from Danowski, the Pride ran off four straight goals to open the third quarter and take a 9-7 edge. But, Grant and Brett Bucktooth recorded back-to-back markers to tie the game at 9-9 at the end of the third period.

The Pride took a convincing 15-7 advantage in the first 6:30 of the fourth quarter with six unanswered goals, including three markers from Merrick Thomson and two goals from Peyser.

Colin Doyle scored two straight goals before a Joe Walters marker to close the margin to 15-12 with 4:55 remaining, but Michael Peyser sealed the victory with a goal off a Danowski pass with 4:26 left.

Danowski had a season-high five points while Greg Peyser added four goals. Thomson scored four goals with an assist and has scored 13 goals with 2 assists in the last three games.

Rob Scherr made 24 saves, including 16 in the second half, to lead the Pride defense. In the last two games, he has recorded 50 saves.

Grant led Rochester with three goals and an assist while Doyle added a two-goal, two-assist performance in a losing effort.
