The Game Story:
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Los Angeles rookie attackman Kevin Huntley scored five goals in a game four times during his college career at Johns Hopkins. But, he will always remember his first five-goal game as a professional as his effort gave the Riptide a 15-10 victory over the Rochester Rattlers at PAETEC Park on Saturday evening.

Huntley, who was picked with the 17th overall pick and traded to the Riptide, was named as the Bud Light MVP for the first time in his career as the Riptide foiled the Rattlers’ attempt at revenge after last year’s MLL semi-final loss.

Huntley gave the Riptide an early 1-0 lead before the Rattlers bounced back with back-to-back goals from John Grant, Jr. and Brett Bucktooth. However, the Riptide answered with six straight goals to take a 7-2 lead with 11:03 left in the second quarter.

The teams traded goals twice before the Rattlers scored a pair of consecutive markers in the final four minutes to cut the margin to 9-6 at the intermission.

Led by Huntley, the Riptide extended their advantage to 13-7 by scoring four of the five goals in the third quarter. Huntley was responsible for three of the four LA goals in the stanza.

The teams exchanged goals twice to start the fourth quarter before Colin Doyle scored to narrow the Rattlers’ deficit to 15-10. However, the Riptide defense held off a Rochester comeback and earned the victory.

Huntley led the Riptide with five goals while Kyle Harrison added two goals and four assists. Jesse Hubbard, who missed last week’s game due to his wedding, recorded a “hat trick” in his return to the lineup.

Grant led Rochester with three goals while Doyle added two goals with two assists.
