The Game Story:
CARSON, Calif. - Led by six goals from Matt Hanna, the Denver Outlaws won their second straight game with a 16-13 victory over the Los Angeles Riptide in a Western Conference affair at the Home Depot Center on Saturday evening.

After Denver took a quick 2-1 lead in the first quarter, Hanna led the Outlaws to a strong second quarter by scoring two of his goals during a 4-1 run, which gave Denver a 6-2 lead. The teams traded goals to end the period, upping the Outlaws’ advantage to 7-3 at the intermission.

Led by three goals from Jesse Hubbard, the Riptide narrowed the margin to 9-7 by scoring four of the first six goals in the third quarter. However, the Outlaws recovered and scored three straight markers to increase their cushion to 12-7.

Rookie Kevin Huntley and Greg Downing scored back-to-back goals to narrow the Riptide deficit to 12-9 before the Outlaws responded with four straight goals for a commanding 16-9 lead. Hanna had three of the goals during the rally.

With 6:25 left in regulation, Hubbard ignited a four-goal run for the Riptide by scoring the first of three straight markers. After Kyle Harrison scored with 3:17 remaining, the Riptide had closed the gap to 16-13, but the Denver defense held off the Riptide to earn the victory.

While Hanna led the Outlaws with six goals, Ryan Powell added a goal with five assists.

Hubbard led Los Angeles with six goals in a losing effort. He also had a pair of assists.
