| The Game Story: | The Colorado Mammoth defeated the San Jose Stealth, 17-8, in front of 17,689 fans at Pepsi Center. Gary Gait scored 11 points (6G, 5A) to lead the Mammoth to victory, while Gavin Prout (3G, 5A) and John Wilson (1G, 4A) were impressive in their debut with Colorado.
Gee Nash collected the win in goal for the Mammoth, recording 36 saves as he held San Jose to only eight goals. Nash also helped his new team offensively, recording four assists.
Prior to the game the Mammoth raised their 2003 NLL Eastern Division championship banner to the rafters of Pepsi Center.
Mike Regan (2G, 2A) and Josh Sanderson (1G, 4A) led the Stealth, while Rob Blasdell recieves the loss in goal.
Tonight's match was the opening game for both teams. Colorado improves to 1-0, while San Jose falls to 0-1. Colorado returns to action on Friday, January 9th, meeting the Arizona Sting at the new Glendale Arena. San Jose and Colorado then hit the floor again the following night, Saturday, January 10th, at HP Pavilion. |
